Abstract

In developmental issues across the globe, culture has become a focal subject of discussion and emphasis for developers. This is because culture plays an important role in development process around the world. In fact, show me a developed society and I will show you the cultural development of such society. Therefore, it is from this perspective that this paper presents an empirical experience of Theatre for Development Initiative done in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The TfD exercise was a workshop process with focus on ensuring cultural development through quality artistic education in secondary schools since we realized that theatre and its various tools are viable channels to ensure that cultural development becomes achievable in a given society.
